Accident Fund Insurance Company of America Donates $7,500 to Lansing Area Charitable Organizations in December 2010
December 22, 2010 (Lansing, MI) – Accident Fund Insurance Company of America, a leading national
workers compensation insurance company, recently presented checks totaling
$7,500 to four different Lansing-area charitable organizations – Lansing Area
AIDS Network, Michigan History Foundation, Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan
and Volunteers of America.
The Lansing Area AIDS Network (LAAN) is a non-profit AIDS service organization
located in Lansing, Mich., that provides direct care and prevention services to
11 mid-Michigan counties. Since 1985, LAAN has provided care services to over
1,030 individuals living with HIV and their families. Accident Fund recently
donated $1,000 to help sponsor their annual Red Ribbon Gala & Auction, which
raises money to help stock the LAAN food pantry, assist with medical care and
transportation, and provide prevention services to those communities at greatest
risk for HIV infection.
The Michigan History Foundation is dedicated to preserving Michigan’s place in
history. The Foundation is the financial trustee of a daily effort to discover
and document the personal histories of individuals, organizations and
communities in our state and add them as the next pivotal chapter in the state’s
history. More than 80,000 Michigan students, each year, learn about the history
of their state through the Michigan History Foundation’s Michigan History
Education Fund. Accident Fund recently donated $2,500 to help sponsor the
Foundation’s Annual “Jingle Ball,” which raises money for the Michigan History
Education Fund.
The Ronald McDonald House of Mid-Michigan is a home-away-from-home for the
families of seriously ill children who are hospitalized or receiving treatment
at Lansing-area hospitals and clinics. Accident Fund recently donated $2,000 to
support the 2010 “Caring Hearts” Campaign, which supports the assistance Ronald
McDonald House of Mid-Michigan provides to area families.
The Volunteers of America New Hope Day Center Homeless Program in Lansing, Mich.
offers support to families and individuals, giving them access to valuable
services and obtaining shelter from the elements when overnight shelters are
closed. Accident Fund recently donated $2,000 to support the New Hope Day Center
Homeless Program.
“We are proud to support worthy causes across the state that assist individuals
dealing with serious illnesses, the less fortunate, and contribute to providing
educational opportunities for our youth,” Mike Britt, president of Accident Fund
Insurance Company of America, said. “Accident Fund is committed to sharing
resources with individuals in the communities where we conduct business and we
are very proud of our continued commitment to corporate social responsibility.”
